Dick, ALL
Rumor has it that MOT and USRX worked out a deal for MOT to acquire PILOT. Sounds OK by me. Who would want to buy a Pilot from COMS? Besides, MOT makes the components (Toshiba makes the RAM).Also, I've seen the new pilot. Looks pretty much like the one we have, but it is called something else, and has a sturdier case. Of course the backlight is there also. Minimum memory is now 512K, with a 1024K (total) option. You can order yours now through EggHead and CompUSA. I also heard that USRX will not release the new pilot until the first shipment is 75% sold out. Better reserve yours now with one of the above resellers.

PS. Programming these things is do-able. No need to buy the developers SDK package from USRX. Waste of money IMO. All you need is a compiler or assembler that spits out 68xxx machine language and your set. There are several include libraries and header files (free) out on the internet that are set up for the pilot environment. The Pilot OS documentation is freely (free) available on the internet in PDA format (about 2000 pages). The special 683xx processor docs is also on-line on a MOT web page. Do you know that these things will support more memory??? There are some hacks out there building 2, 4 meg cards. I hear USRX was not pleased when they heard this.
PSS: About the TA software...it blows (I wrote it). It just pokes fun at USRX and some individuals. I can't give it out until all parties that are referenced in it have OKed it's distribution. (Janice, Jeff, Scrapps, David, Paul(OK))
