*They must compete against some pretty heavy competition, which must also have internal supply of these components, such as Motorola and Ericson.*
MOT just sold its VCO unit to the unit's managers.
*Do these chips for phones care about CDMA, TDMA, or GSM? Or, will VARL sell into all?*
VARL sells into any and all standards . . .
*Finally, I wonder if there isn't one or 2 really cleaver engineers who are responsible for most of VARL's success? It's a small company and glancing through past annual reports I got such a feeling. That seems like a worry if true.*
Yes it is true . . . not to worry though. The chief architect of VARL's success is Joseph H. Kiser, the Chairman & CSO. He also owns ~14.37% of the company. Together the officers and directors own ~28.79% of the company.
Officers / Directors Joseph H. Kiser (Chairman & CSO) 789,543 14.37% David G. Sherman (Pres. & CEO) 487,230 Sarah L. Booher (Director) 58,530 David A. Lisowski (Director) 16,700 Anthony B. Petrelli (Director) 10,000 Derek L. Bailey (VP Sales & Mktg.) 74,290 Jon L. Clark (CFO, VP Finance) 53,296 Daniel J. Wilmot (VP Engineering) 92,290 1,581,879 28.79%
*In the end, I keep wondering why they aren't being acquired?*
Some thoughts . . .
1) Their gross revenues are too small to attract attention. 2) They have not fully accessed the high volume handset market (yet). 3) They are a microcap issue. |
