Golly, the propagation engineers are going to be amazed at this pronouncement. Rain fade at 38 Ghz is a lot worse than 18 Ghz, but if you design to the right distance, it still works most of the time. Fog is not rain - the radio waves sail right on through fog - it's the rain drops that cause signal drop off at 38 Ghz. Simple radio stuff. I'm puzzled? You mean that Winstar is selling T-1s for 250-300 dollars a year? Please help me - you said divide Winstars wirerless revenues by 250-300 to get number of T-1s. How can they make money putting in $20,000 radio links and renting them at $300/yr? The interest alone is $2,000/yr, plus depreciation is $2,000/yr. All I really want is a number from Winstar of the actual revenue generating links in service. All the info I've seen says they have no signficant revenue from this.

Why is this such a secret, unless it is a closely held admission that they don't have a clue how to make money on this?
