Not necessarily. Third party JVM's can run on windows CE boxes, so it should be possible to load a JVM into the set-top box (assuming that those boxes can load applications, I'm not sure about that, but if they can't then they would be pretty obsolete pretty quickly relative to a Java set-top box), and go from there. Of course, Microsoft will probably #ifdef the CE kernel to reject java virtual machines....

Double bonus for MSFT, now not only do they get easy access to the set top boxes, but TCI had planned on using java in it's boxes, so they displace SUNW as well (most likely)....
