Paul, off hand, I think that the G8 agreement is a good one. I like the fact that there are only economic promises towards the crisis region, which mainly means Kosovo. I like the interim UN government until Kosovo can return to normalcy. I also like the disbanding of the KLA, if they can achieve that. The KLA might not be too trusting until they see positive, safe results. It doesn't call for independence, which is a bone thrown at Slob. But, it will be difficult for the Kosovars to deal politically with Slob's government, because Slob has so much Kosovo blood on his hands. So, whether Kosovo will be independent or autonomous will be inconsequential at first. Will Slob agree? Probably not. Will he come to the bargaining table? He will probably offer to come to the bargaining table if the bombing stops. NATO will refuse to stop the bombing unless he agrees to stop the murdering, raping and looting, and allows independent observers into Kosovo first, and the return of the Kosovo Albanians. I would be willing to bet that, within two weeks Slob agrees to terms like these and starts negotiations. Reason: Slob's military is being destroyed. It might be slow, but the writing is on the wall that all he has to gain is a ruined infrastructure and a much weakened military. Slob knows that he has lost. He needs to salvage what he can get, in order to stay in power. Sorry for the long response. Just thinking out loud. What is your opinion of G8? Will there be a breakthrough? |
