Most Civilian Communication switches have to withstand a: Shock b:Vibration c: Heat radiation (Fire) d:Lightning e:Short Circuit loading f: E M radiaton g: Noise degradation h:Enviro pollution. etc Do you know how the source vendors for components are qualified and what Batch testing is done to mantain the performance.
