I was trying to tie together the sitcom of the 60s with the sitcom of the 90s, to find a common thread that maybe explained why Lear (and the article)were not correct in their conclusion that we have deviated from their original "values" set forth in that medium. (Although I remember clearly how offended everyone was by Archie Bunker. He did NOT represent family in the traditional way at all and Norman Lear was considered to be very radical with All in the Family.)

While some of us weren't raised with TV as the evening altar at which the family worshipped, many of us were, perhaps more now than ever, and it was this to which I was speaking- trying to say that things haven't changed within that group and that perhaps the basic themes were intact despite the different formats.

This was I thought a sociological question- open to viewpoints- and somehow you've made it feel personal. I don't care that I'm abnormal because I don't watch TV. I think the fact that many do watch it interesting and I wonder why they do. I'm unclear why you feel so personally attacked.

So I withdraw from the fray, because I'm frankly lost.
