It may have "no merit," but this is exactly what most HMOS are doing today. This is what they did with my wife at Kaiser.

My point is that doctors already have blood-based testing procedures through their labs and that the quick diagnostics tests are not the only alternative to the endoscopy procedure, as you suggest in #471. There are lab-based blood tests and breath tests, though the breath tests are typically used to verify the level of the bacteria after treatment.

I think we both agree that the quick diagnostics test is the best alternative to initially detecting the presence of HP, but it isn't the only alternative to endoscopy.
