Calvin, there are different interpretations regarding how this can be handled for tax purposes because of the circumstances. Some people are more agressive than others regarding how this is written off, and I believe it is worth your while to get professional advice. I also believe should fraud charges be brought forward you will be able to write off the loss differently. Again, that varies from accountants I have spoken with.
