Steve, good to see you in the VoIP thread, and thanks for the kudos.

"...the days of trying to talk people into taking a great leap of faith to chance experimenting by installing some of that funny thick cable with only one copper wire inside a braid into the conduits. "

That wouldn't be orange cable, would it? The kind that cries out to be attacked by vampires? smiles

Great leaps of faith, eh? I know the syndrome well.

I'm going through the same exercise right now. I've got a long standing client whose private sonet is now fully deployed, and exhausted of capacity, before they even take full title of the ADMs. It was supposed to see them through the year 2002.

I'm trying to move them towards examining wavelength routing for their current requirments, much less next gen requirements, but all they can see is the tips of their noses presently. "Let's put in another sonet," is a common reply I've heard.

Oh well... at least I've got some of them listening to the words, now. But one can only make recommendations in such matters, as I'm sure you are well aware. And perhaps that's part of the balancing act needed to keep the arrow taker casualties to a minimum.

Regards, Frank Coluccio
