Rarely encounter busy lines.
Key word here is "rarely." :)
As far as speed and reliability go, the speed of this connection compares favorably with my T1 at work (of course I use an IBM/Win machine there, so surfing ain't even half as fun as on my Mac, nor does it look as good).
As far as reliability, I think I've noticed four times since I had this installed in late March that the service itself has gone down, and usually then for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour or two. I've chalked this up to the high number of installs they've been doing in my area since the service was officially announced (three days after I got mine installed ;).
Bottom line: I'm FAR more satisfied with the speed and reliability of this service than I am with any of the three or four dial-up services I've ever had, and the price increase is negligible for me. As far as the installation fee goes, I figure that that was an investment in the future, as now I'll basically have another phone line running into the house. The more cable there is running through this place, the better.
