Today's WSJ page 1 has a little blurb about Berkeley Lab having developed a sensor that shows the presence of E.coli by changing the color of the sensor from blue to red. The sensor can be put on plastic, paper, glass and such, i.e. bottle caps or lids. In mass quantities the cost would be 1 penny per sensor. They have several patents on the sensors.
