So you are reading "The Three Musketeers", Chuzzlewit? I hope the translation is better than the one that my brothers read...That was one of my major objections to Dumas and Cooper: the language was so inept, so self-consciously "antique"!! I have since read some Dumas in French (his book about travels in the Caucasus, for example), and so have concluded that his English translator did him a great disservice. Joan
