Yes I tried to get through to Novell regional sales

They are either in fire engine mode or not organized to deal with such situations. Thanks to your encouragement I am going to call again. I will report their level of interest back. I guess 50 licenses doesn't count for much in the Marengi/Novell "enterprise" scenario.

Here is verbatim what the VAR said. And incidentally my first question to him was did he upgrade his CNE status to include 4.11. Answer NO.

"If the main reason for NW 4.11 is for Internet access (Please note in a totally Novell shop!--PF) the use of a separate web server running Windows NT should be explored. Window's NT based Web Servers have a larger and more stable installed base. More utilities and applications have ben written to run on the WIN-NT Web Servers. There is better support for dial-in and publishing of home pages."

Yes this Novell VAR obviously is pushing his customers to NT.

Well Novell managers WHY ARE YOU STRANGELY SILENT. ITs okay to bash Joe Antol but here is what your company is up against in the REAL WORLD. A Novell VAR deciding he would rather just support the dumb 3.X customers in legacy mode and focus on NT for his own future.

You need strong products in the low end of the server market or you will lose all of these sales to NT. Marengi sounds to me like he doesn't care.

Come on Novell managers I want to hear from you. Hmmmm...silent, sounds like Marengi to me....

Once again thanks Mr. Ritchie for a positive post and the encouragement.
