INTERNET--(esecurities.W)--May 7, 1999 - NEWS Corp Takes 2% Stake in TheStreet.com. NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. plans to take a 2 percent stake in soon-to-be-public TheStreet.com, investing $7.5 million in the financial news Web site and offering it the TV exposure it craves. News America Inc., a subsidiary of News Corp. (NWS: news, msgs), will buy the shares at $11 to $13, the indicated price for TheStreet's 5.5 million-share initial public offering, slated for next week. A News America spokesperson would not comment on whether the company was paying cash for those shares or solely providing advertising media time..."
