I'm trying to figure out what that position is, and how it works.

I'm sympathetic to much in the philosophy, but many Libertarian arguments seem to be an "I told you so". For example I think it would have been a net positive if we never would have nationalized the railroads, but we don't get to back up and start over in that regard.

So, that it would have been better now if we had been more libertarian then, I might accept on any specific topic. But what is the ex post facto Libertarian position on the subject?
