The CEO of DIMD, the manufacturer of RIO, was just on Channel 22 in L.A. He indicated that much of the music legally available on the net are intended as marketing tools for full length CD's, movies, etc. He also noted that it was fine to load your own CD into a computer and then download it into your RIO unit, but it would only be for your use.

While I didn't hear him come out and say it, you could tell he's anticipating a way to securely market and sell music.
