I would think quite easily. THere are so many different types of "educated", particularly in today's complex society. A PhD in Engineering who never read Madame Bovary wouldn't surprise me at all, but I certainly wouldn't consider him uneducated. If you want to define education as the classical liberal arts curriculum, that's fine, but it does strike me as elitist and judgmental to define the people you meet in this way and reduce others to a lesser status.
