Today I had another terrible experience with ATT.
It has to do with their billing.
I have both PCS and Longdistance service with them.
I switched to ATT in March after their rep called me and explained a special package (domestic long distance 5cents/minute during week end,
10centes/per minute rest of the week, international call to a country
I frequently call 62cents per minute during weeks ends and $1.16 during week days) and promised that I will get $25 rebate check for next four months.
We also have PCS service.
Today I got my bill and found that the total charge is around $600.
The charge they levied is 16 to 28 cents per minute for domestic
long distance and $2.59 for international call. When I contacted
the long distance billing department was immediately willing to credit the difference and then switched me to the international department.
The lady at the department said that I don't have ATT service and
the rate they charged was without any special promotion.
When I asked why would they allow me to use their network since I was not a signed member her reply was she doesn't know and was not willing to credit. Then I called another number to figure out who was the rep that called me and offered the service they could not figure that out. they could only say that somebody called on such and such date and the promotion was correct. Then finally they corrected everything and told me that I will receive the promotional rate and rebate.
It took 6 calls to 3 different 1-800 numbers and wasted more than
1 hour. I told the guy that I hate to go through this kind silly thing
and my time is much more valuable that educating those smart people.
As I said in one of my previous post billing is going to be
a nightmare and people are going to feel a degradation in customer service.
Another nightmare will be cultural friction between Cable employees and ATT employees.
It will take lot longer than what ATT would like to integrate these
giants.
Let the fun begin.
