Redundancy and Resiliency

As an Internet backbone router core router the Aranea-1TM system provides no single-point-of-failure reliability with advanced self-test features engineered to require minimal management attention.

The unique run-time self-test mechanism is capable of detecting hardware and software failures in real time with absolutely no penalty on performance.

When a failure is detected, redundant hardware is activated through a hot-standby mechanism, while the system manager is informed.

Every card in the Aranea-1TM system is hot swappable, enabling failed hardware to be replaced without the need to re-boot the system.

The redundancy scheme also includes redundant switching fabric, redundant CPU boards, redundant communication circuits between the CPU's, and redundant cooling and power supply systems.
