Toby: HomeImprovement Mkt $151 Bil in 99 & to rise 4% a yr thur 02. According to Do-It-Yourself magazine, Sales at home improvement stores should hit $151 billion in 1999 and continue to rise 4% a year thru 2002. Now, this is growth. One main reason = the housing supply is aging with 75% of the country 118million homes now are over 20year old. This is several home needing fixing or upgrading. In addition, U.S. Homeowner spend approx. $5,000 on improvements in the first two years after purchase according to IBD Marily Much. In short, HD will benefit in both areas thus a no lose situation.
