That's all very interesting:

I took the "Golden Handshake" last year when others were saying
why not wait until they up the offer: trouble is, the offer was
so good that too many people took it and now the company is short
of help and will probably never offer it again.

Two weeks later I went to work for another company at a comparable
take-home pay so I was able to roll over the buyout and invest the
entire amount which has since just about doubled.

Last Friday was also may last day on the job as the hours were far
too long and the work was just too much: as you say, jobs are once
again a dime-a-dozen and the company wasn't able to find enough
qualified help to share the workload and I was so overworked that I
just quit.

So far, after almost a week at leisure, I find myself once again
enjoying retirement and I'm in a position that affords me to stay
that way for awhile.

Now if we can just get Novell to get itself on the winning track
once again, as I still think it will, then that'll be more gravy.
