Michael!

Glad you liked my profile...it's really quite easy, once you find the animations you want
to use. Once you do that, click the right mouse button on it and selecting "copy image
location." Then go to
your profile and paste that URL on the desired space. Type <IMG SRC= > around the
URL (it will look something like this:

<IMG SRC=http://www.aye.net/~mike/files/other/animate/tom.gif>

and voila! Don't forget the space between the IMG and the SRC!

A great place to find animated gifs is:

aye.net

An easy way to copy many gifs at a time is to open two Netscape Navigator windows
-- one for the gif page and one for your profile page -- and copy at will!

More HTML tricks can be found on the following pages:

ncsa.uiuc.edu

cwru.edu

And lots of hints are also available on SI at:

Subject 12305

Hope that helps!

HAVE FUN and thanks again for steering me over here!

Michael!

YIKES! you really do have a problem there...but I bet it is something very simple. You
copied the image location correctly. Check and make sure there is NOT a > in front of
the http. SI puts an extra > in the URL when they post responses. I don't know why,
but I just noticed it's there in my last response to you...I should have warned you...I'm
so sorry! Hope you haven't pulled out all your hair!

Let me know how you're doing...if you're still speaking to me, that is! <g>

-Pam

P.S.
* Adding color to your text:
<FONT COLOR=BLUE>your text here</FONT>
* Adding size to your text:
<FONT SIZE=5>your text here</FONT>
* You can change size and color at the same time:
<FONT SIZE=6><FONT COLOR=RED>your text here</FONT>
* To center your image and/or your text:
<CENTER>your text and/or image URL here
* To put a break between lines of text:
your text here<BR> more text<BR> more text, etc.

more notes...

You can fit basic HTML tags into the
space allotted for your profile info.

for instance, for COLLEGE you put

Michigan State

for COLLEGE i put

<a href=http: //www.utoronto.ca><img border=0 src=http:
//www.utoronto.ca/gohome.gif></a>

you hafta be careful cuz the space in
these fields is limited.

as for the moving graphics, those are
links to animated GIFs. they are the
same as links to any other image.

here's a link to a repository of animated GIFs

netm.com
(there are MANY more)

here's the trick that i stole from
mr. lawrence's profile. to change the
background colour of your profile,
place the following code somewhere
in your profile:

<script>document.bgColor='??????'</script>

and replace the ?????? with a colour
from this list (thanx david):

infi.net

FINALLY, as you may already know,
if you see something cool in someone's
profile, the best way to see the way
that they did it is to right-click somewhere
on the page and select VIEW SOURCE
or SOURCE CODE or something like
that. (Mac users gotta use the menus
i guess) compare their source code with
yours and you'll see how they did it.

and then there's music...but that's a
lesson for another day.

hope that helps
