>>In any event, Fleck's a keen and prudent observer of the investment scene and a
voice of reason<<

all i have to say to that is that there are thousands of people that are prudent observers of the investment scene, he happens to be one that shorts internet stocks.

and as far as bill being available, i sent him an e-mail some time ago and had some very nice things to say. as well as making a few jokes. he responded back to me about a week and a half later with a two word response, nothing more. furthermore, i wrote russell a e-mail about a month ago, and he responded to me the next day and had way more of a response than i could have possibly imagined, made a joke to me and was very cordial and i was very impressed.

the thing with the nets being overvalued to traditional investors is understandable but i will tell you why today's markets are different. todays investors like you and me have access to the internet, thus being able to make second by second trades, analysis, etc.. today we are put on the same page (except $) as institutions with nasdaq level II, etc.. the main investors in these stocks are people like you and me. so, we have a chance to buy the next msft or dell or ibm etc.. in there infancy. we all use the internet and know what it does for us now and in the future and we use these "infant" companies every day in our lives. therefore, we know the impact that they have on our lives now and many years into the future. hence, why the general public is the biggest buyers of internet stocks, and why they become so overvalued.

if the internet keeps growing at the multiples that it has been, and frankly i think it will grow at bigger multiples, than who is to stop people from buying the next msft or ibm aapl pushing the trading price to the moon. that is why i could care less what go2net trades day to day. they actually make money, have cash, are linked to the next and biggest wave of the future, growing at unbelievable rates, buying multiple companies per quarter, and on and on. it these stocks are indeed a msft in, say 1979 or whatever, then i want to own them all now. and, i for one am more than willing to pay a little more now, for a huge return in the future. when i say future, i mean 2, 5, 10 years. that is why it is important to pick the good ones now, and buy as much as you possibly can !

>>and that's a pretty good basis from which to serve as a GNET
director. In fact, that'll be his job.<<

is this news to me ? i have not heard this before. was it in a recent filing ? i hope not. so far, i am not impressed by much of his posts here, not impressed with his bull vs. bear debates (i think joe b. trashes him every time) i would rather see bill fleckenstein come out the winner in the debates even though im a bull. (people that are decisive and come out on top are people i want on my board), and not impressed by his response to my e-mail.
