Mike, Let start by saying the MGX will not compete with the NN, LU/ASND or NT core ATM products. The MGX provides 1.2G today and by the time they get to 45G the competition will be well past that number. Are you telling me that the TGX was going to max out at 20G? This product wasn't going to have the capability to scale past 45G? For some reason I was under the impression the TGX would get into the +100G range, but I could be incorrect. Their product was late and lacking the required performance, this is why they couldn't sell the OC-48 ATM interfaces for this product. The market is there, Cisco couldn't deliver. I agree the war will continue for ATM+IP in the next generation platforms, but Cisco just lost this battle. I wouldn't count on the LU/ASND team missing on this next generation product. They will have IP, ATM, Optical and Software experts in their new LU Broadband division.
