Dave, Frank, lml, et al--The topics covered on this thread recently has been on FBBW, DSL and Cable as the dominant pretenders in the near term. And, the discussion has been very helpful. I have another issue: Data over power lines.

There seems to be a natural economic tendency to eliminate the extra wires coming into the home or office. Or, to rephrase, to put as much revenue as possible through any pipe you are providing. This would seem to give the power companies an eventual big advantage, if they can get the data broadband through their wires. They can send power through their wires, while the telcos cannot send power through theirs. So, if they can add boxes in their offices and the customer premises to draw out the data portion, they can inexpensively add lots of potential revenue over their wireline infrastructure.

I have virtually no information on this, however. I have seen some articles describing what sounded like very controlled demonstrations. Real-world implementation sounds like it is far away. Can anyone point to sites or information that would flesh this out? Or, add your 2 cents?

Best,
JS
