JR, sure, I expect it, and why not, timing is everything. I believe a few years ago it became official policy, (giving in to China's demand for a united China) at the expense of Taiwan's freedom. They will call in some chits on this latest offense. Taiwan may be the chip they get. Eisnehower warned of the military/industrial complex, here we go again. Cold war #2... MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian President Boris Yeltsin Saturday condemned what he called the vandalism of NATO's strike on the Chinese embassy in Belgrade and said there was no justification for the attack.
''In Russia we are shaken by the NATO bombardment of the embassy of the Chinese Peoples Republic in Belgrade. This is an open outrage and there is not and cannot be any justification for it,'' Yeltsin said in a statement released by the Kremlin.
''The list of the many victims of NATO's rockets and bombs has increased with new names. This time, Chinese citizens have died, who were fulfilling their duty in the capital of Yugoslavia despite the continuing air strikes,'' he said.
''The destruction of a foreign embassy is not only an act of vandalism but a further flagrant violation of international law,'' Yeltsin said.
He added that Russia had since the start of the bombings condemned the attacks and that the latest incident was a vindication of its position. |
