Maurice, I agree on your take of the economics of war. I think that one of the major drivers of the healthy economy that the US has recently been blessed is the "peace dividend". The military industrial complex is ultimately a drag on the economy. I love your analogy of building a road that goes nowhere. The major benefit the economy has gained from military spending is in the form of innovations later applied to commercial enterprise, like maybe uh CDMA. Other than that military spending is an insurance policy (necessary evil). >>PS: Unfuelled by other than Japanese Green Tea!! Is this tea smoked??? Pete
