5/10 Investors Business Daily New America Page: PWR, Quanta Services Quanta Services was the new stock that was mentioned in code a lot on this thread from April 29 through May 3 when it was up 10 points in 5 straight sessions. Quanta's fourth quarter earnings rose 67% to 25 cents a share. Revenue climbed 127% to $114.8 million. For 1998, earnings rose 40% to 81 cents. This company is hot on the acquisition trail acquired 20 companies since 1998. its 1998 revenue climbed 80% to $324 million. ...What we're trying to do is become a one-source full-service provided to the electric utility and telecommunications industries....says the CEO. On the utilities side, Quanta designs, installs and maintains large power line networks. That includes building towers and stringing hundred mile spans of cable. It also involves trenching and boring to lay underground lines. They also provide services to the Telecom industry, by consolidating and buying more companies they are able to serve both the Telecom industry and the Electric utilities industry... The Company is "very comfortable with a mix of electric utility and telecom work that's in the 40 to 50% range either way. It stands more or less alone in consolidating elecrical utility contractors. ... This looks like a nice intermediate hold and the company reports its earnings on Tuesday. Subscribers have already traded it once and otheres could possibly trade it on anticipation once again this Monday/Tuesday.
