Lather, we were at war with Japan. Rounding them up was regrettable, but understandable in a way. We were a very racist, provincial nation back then. And anyway, even if every household was fully armed and armored, I find it highly doubtful that the rest of America would have rallied to the defense of the Japanese Americans.

There was a really good column in yesterday's San Francisco Examiner about how absurd it is to hang the right to bear assault weapons on the Second Amendment, and other good things that echo my own beliefs about guns. In fact, it suggests repealing the amendment altogether, as we have done with several other ones which became outdated.
