Thanks for another instructive post.

What do you think about the recurrent inflation bogeyman ? For me, it seems that the "new paradigm" also pertains to the traditional "inevitable" boom / bust economic cycles. I'm not a trained economist, but it just seems we have never seen this pattern of sustained productivity growth, with continued LOWER prices for productivity technology goods: more and more speed, bells and whistles for lower prices ? It was just a couple years ago when Ellison was touting the network "boxes" at $250 to $300 and now there are some minimally configured computers for not too much more.

Also, look at the steady, even ruthless drip drip of competitive pricing between internet / ecommmerce vendors and the brick and mortar businesses (Microsoft excepted, of course !).

Apparent "structural" productivity growth and and continuing competitive pricing (how about the "below cost pricing model" !) just give me perhaps a false sense of optimism about the inflation menace.

Of course, there are many other global economic or political factors that could put a damper on ... anytime.

Other opinions, comments appreciated.

(** OT - enjoyed your posting AOL thread of the Barron's internet interview this weekend. Never thought of Barron's and tag team wrestling together before but one week they slam and the next week's team comes in and pumps it all up again. I guess they want to be sure to appeal to all market segments !).

Good luck --

George Martin
