<<Want to know another, PKN split into two companies on the 5th of the month PEB and CRA. Had to call up the broker who had no clue of it. Put me over to the corporate actions guys who said had no idea of it. And even today its not corrected. Someone was suppose call me back with an update yesterday but ofcourse that was too much to ask.>>

I don't understand, what were you going to ask? You knew it was splitting into two companies, correct? And I'm not surprised that the customer service reps at a discount broker don't know the details on very single stock. That's one reason its $12 a trade, chief.

<<I could give you a thousand examples of bad service. But according to you anybody who needs any service is a day trader.>>

???? I said this?

<<Yes it will work fine if you have no real need for speed and you occasionally do a trade or two for the long term. Most of my trades are for the long term but any time I do one for the short term which might push this mediocre system, it just screws me up. >>

So try somewhere else. I'm surprised that you, by yourself, able to "push this system". You must have tons of money!

<<What you are basically saying is that Schwab, Etrade etc are fools to have faster systems, because they target day traders ...>>

I don't recall calling any company a fool. Rather, I'd say the faster the better. My whole point was I trade with limit orders and wait for BUY/SELLs to get executed when the stock price hits my limit, and I've had zero problems, that's all.

<<No IPO offers either , my Discover brokerage does.>>

They said that IPOs are in their future plans, and that Waterhouse account holders will get access to the TD Waterhouse IPO, so hopefully this will change.

<<I just think that when you come out saying they are great, you should also know of a lot of people who don't think so. So some day when you want to make some really fast moves, you can be aware that people have faced problems with it in the past.>>

OK. For me it works fine, and I don't think speed should a big issue for individuals, because we (probably) are never going to be faster than the pros in institutions with direct access to trading floors. You obviously think differently and trade differently, so you have encountered these errors that I haven't. Fair enough.
