Now, I work for a large company, we have about 2500 people in the IS department, I notise that OS2 is used as server all over the place and it is down 2 out of 5 days a week, reason: we once had a big shot pushing the OS2 and he was long gone but the headache left behind him. Why don't NOVELL put an ADS like once WORDs did to WordPerfect or WordPerfect is doing now to MS OFFICE, say, a free or minimal fee to migrate from OS/2 or NT SERVERs if "your department experiences bad headache ever since using them" and garrantee them satisfaction. Free demo included. Put 20 million dollars in REAL marketing, give more % commision to salesman.
I think to sit in a VARs or in a reseller's office or company regional office and waiting for customer to inquire is purely stupid, this is not like selling a car.
Novell can just look at their customer list and compare to the grand company list, it is very easy to find out who is using NOVELL and who is not, so go get these "NOT". Contact their IS or IT department, don't feel shy, that is how head hunter works, that is how a consulting firm works, they visit the site constantly, push the right button, people is willing to listen if they do have headache and they do want to fix the headache and NOVELL happens to be a frequent visitor ... the rest goes without saying.
Yes, let's give NOVELL some positive ideas, we might help ourself at the end ...
