As for diplomatic missions continuing to function in a war zone, foreign diplomats fully understand the risks and it is their responsibility to take the necessary measures to protect their staff, to include closing down their mission.

Now I wouldn't rule out the remote possibility that there is something more darkly ominous at the root of this incident, maybe even a warning to Bejing not to interfere. Who knows??

But hey, folks like you and I certainly are wise enough to delay any prospective trip to Belgrade for vacation... You'd think other people would have the same common sense.

The question is.. did our state department formally warn all diplomatic missions to Yugoslavia that there was no guarantee of their safety during this bombing campaign??
