Good analysis Hatim, I definitely see there are two wireless sectors emerging.

1. Local fixed/ Local Mobile wireless through the use of radio technology - i.e. data links and bridges between LAN's, devices, network access points, and ISP's. These items are limited to a specific range between each other (inside a building or between buildings) based on the technology of the individual components.

2. Mobile wireless technology based on the cellular network / infrastructure. (CDPD, CDMA, GSM, etc.) This sector provides mobile data access from items such as handhelds, PDA's, laptops, phones etc. to the internet, intranet, or corporate network.

The one place IMHO you may see some convergence between the two is at the point of data transmission between the cellular/data network provider to the corporate network and possibly when the handheld is in range of the fixed network, however the second would require an additional system (radio) within the handheld device. In any event currently the data tranfer rate of the fixed wireless is substantially larger than that of the cellular/data networks. Any incorporation of data network technology at the moment into the fixed technology would only serve as bottle neck to the radio network and therefore we would instead see alternate radio/fixed technology being used as the last mile solution.

I think Im making sense? Do you agree Hatim?
