Paul, I would like to add to this very relevant post (at least to me as tonight I just got back from a 4 hour seminar at a Microsoft regional office here in NJ).
It was an INTRANET SOULUTIONS SEMINAR. I wanted to go for a couple of reasons. 1) To get a free CD with IIS, Front Page, VB5, and a whole ton of other stuff <g>, and 2) To "check out" the competition again (hadn't done this in awhile).
Lemme tell ya'. They are "slicker" than ever. They played to a packed house (with pizza at the break), and the "mantra" was "the total package, the total package...". NOT so much for the client, but MAN,the SERVER. THEY WANT THAT LOCK, STOCK, and BARRELL. NTS, SQL SERVER, IIS, FRONT PAGE, OUTLOOK (That's the new groupware push), EXHANGE, VB5, ACTIVE X CONTROLS, etc... and if they said "EVERYTHING RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!" one more time (musta' said it 100 times), I was gonna puke. They TRASHED NETWARE, and they had the audience (Mostly VARS and Resellers) mesmerized.
SO, I Think this append to this particular post, is appropo to your post.
NOVELL MARKETING --- YOU ARE IN DEEP S*IT! YOU HAVE A VERY, TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW. I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE UP TO IT. WOULD ANY NOVELL REPS LIKE TO COMMENT ON WHAT I SAW AND HEARD TONIGHT? AND, ARE YOU UP TO FIGHTING THIS?
This is not a lame post, or a post to incite. I am just telling it as it is. Like Paul said, THIS IS THE REAL WORLD! Believe me, I was there tonight. Is Novell going to have a similar seminar in the NY, NJ area? I would like to compare? I am serious Novell marketing, is there? I will go, I assure you.
Regards,
Joe.. |
