What is your solution or preference? How do you create a free, independent news service without any mistakes, hyped stories or incorrect focuses? Reduce the commercial nature of news and take some lessons from the McNeil-Lehrer News hour or Christian Science Monitor. News should NEVER be developed or provided to a broadcaster's audience according to a business model based on profitability. Hell, that's why they have other programming. News should be considered a value added service that adds credibility to a particular network and creates trust and understanding, not sensationalism and emotional manipulation. I present to you the OJ Simpson trial as the prime example of what is most terrible about current news strategy and how they have prostituted themselves on the altar of ratings and tabloidism. But that's my personal hang-up. I'm getting more and more cynical in my middle-age.... <vbg>
