I just installed ie5 and like you say, I don't see an option for opening a new browser in full screen. If I start ie from the icon or the start menu, or if I open a new browser using Window/New/Browser, it starts up in full-screen. OTOH, if I start a new browser by clicking on a link in a HTML document, it starts in reduced mode. I don't find it too bothersome since the toolbar has the icon for going to full-screen, so it's just one click away.
