<< News should NEVER be developed or provided to a broadcaster's audience according to a business model based on profitability. >>

Nonsense! In a capitalistic system, the business model accounts for the demand by the public. And, in order for a news service to survive, they need to provide accurate news in an interesting way, and provide what the public wants to see. Competition is the driving force that provides us with the best news services in the world.

<< News should be considered a value added service that adds credibility to a particular network and creates trust and understanding, not sensationalism and emotional manipulation. >>

If this is your preference, don't watch the news. The fact that the major networks increased their supper time news coverage from 1/2 hour per day to 2+ hours reflects the demand by the people. I like our "supply and demand" economic system.

How would you implement your "boring" news system? Would you pass laws censuring the network's news broadcasts?

OTOH, if you are right and everyone else is wrong, then no one is watching the 24 hour CNN or MSNBC news channels. I think not.

<< I present to you the OJ Simpson trial as the prime example of what is most terrible about current news strategy and how they have
prostituted themselves on the altar of ratings and tabloidism.
>>

What was wrong with the OJ Simpson news coverage? It was probably the highest rated news event in history, meaning that the public wanted to watch it and wanted to know about it. Who are you to deny the public what the public wants to see?

Why would you want to take the profits out of news broadcasting? What else don't you like about capitalism and the law of supply and demand.
