Dear NVestor,
with today's technology, doing Hematocrit alone (a manual process) is far more time consuming and expensive. Most laboratories donot even have the old style tubes for doing Hematocrit. With today's automated machine, 17 different parameters are being measured by the machine, including Hematocrit, Hb, WBC, RBC, Platelets etc.
So doing an automated CBC takes 1 minute and gives all this information as print out, whether you want it or not. Once the CBC machine is installed, the only cost is of operator and reagents, which is usually less than $5 per test.
Novastan definitely has place in clinical use. Let us see how the company prices it. The cheaper the initial price, better the penetration.
