You're friend who says Qualcomm is a house of cards better take a closer look before he loses his job. Maybe Q went up for a reason. for that matter, maybe he also should check out PCS. Those gains are occuring becuase of the success of cdma.

The thing that amazes me is that a lot of people still have no clue what has happened. The GSM world has admitted that cdma is the way of the future, that is huge. CDMA isn't going to split the market, it will be the market. How long witll it take, 10 years tops. It'll be a hell of a ride for those who own Qualcomm.

The previous article about GSM sales in China is a joke. GSM will be toast. They were selling lots of analog when digital came out. Companies/countires have dumped a lot of cash into systems that are going to have to be overlayed/upgraded to cdma. None of them are going to tell the world that "oh shit we've got to switch everything to cdma" But you can bet your ass they know its true and are preparing plans to make the transition. Sure GSM will be around, just like analog is today.
