A civil suit operates under rules different from a criminal trial. Notably, one doesn't have to prove a case "beyond a reasonable doubt", but only according to the preponderance of the evidence. In any event, your reflections about how litigation should proceed are somewhat disjointed, and bear little relation to how it in fact proceeds. One is still not entitled to defraud the court, and it is Clinton's efforts along those lines that made the matter criminal. There is no doubt that he lied in his deposition, and very little doubt that he counseled others to lie and to conspire to withhold evidence. These are serious matters, and consistent with a pattern of untruthfulness that has marked him out as a particularly shameless liar, even among politicians. Putting down the concern that conservatives feel over the manner in which the man has disgraced his office to nothing but mindless rage shows a singular lack of concern for the future of the office of the Presidency, and a stunning indifference to the integrity of our courts....
