Dear Mark; Many factors effect the quality of a Bible Translation. Most importantly the quality of the manuscript being translated and the skill and knowledge of the translator. All translations can be checked by the readers through lexicons in the original languages. When a new translation comes out, it is thoroughly checked over by the collective of those who read it. Poor ones go away, good ones endure. All Biblical issues become controversial because there are many people who have motive to twist the Truth of Yeshua's Revelation.
