Part of CUBE's rise is likely related to this article and the rumor around Silicon Valley that it is a buyout candidate, with INTC and CSCO the rumored suitors:

forbes.com

AT&T and Media One announced an open cable standard, which should benefit CUBE's set-top box business in the future. MSFT rumored to be talking to CUBE about some sort of partnering. A few other possible reasons, but these are the big ones, and most of it is rumo right now. After a tepid opening today, it appears to be on the rise again.
