MacNN ORB Review - "Phenomenal!"

macnn.com

"... Although we were unable to obtain benchmarks, performance of the ORB drive was phenomenal. It easily outperformed both the Zip and Jaz 1 GB drives, and even the Jaz 2 GB drive was no match for the ORB. A 250 MB folder containing 2,230 items was copied to the ORB cartridge in just over a minute, an impressive feat even for an ordinary IDE hard drive to do. Being able to fill up an ORB cartridge in under 10 minutes means that suddenly backing up your entire drive doesn't have to be a lunch-break or while-you-sleep activity, and thanks to the performance the ORB drive can be used as an ordinary hard drive without missing a beat.

Just as Iomega revolutionized the removable storage industry years ago, Castlewood is poised to do just the same with its ORB drive. What allowed the Zip drive to blow its competitors out of the water was its quick and universal adoption, something that, thanks to its price and performance, shouldn't be much of a problem for the ORB."

--------

Iomega is caught behind the technology curve yet again. Castlewood Orb is racking up rave review after rave review. I hear that the June PC World raves about it too...I'll have to check that out.

Jaz is just plain Dead. Expect Jaz to be hacked off just like Ditto.
