Thanks for the explanation. I'd never heard of a daytrading limit separate from a normal margin limit. I'm just guessing, but I assume (with all that implies :-)) that Waterhouse doesn't update balances realtime, so the daytrade limit is a way for them to get daytrading business without having to upgrade their system for realtime balances.
