Scrapps,
I really think David's explanation was enlightening. Especially his guess how the investment bankers might have 'independently' approached other potential partners. I appreciate the subtleties that David pointed out to me. In a way, it's not relevant how much USR might have gotten from another partner because there might not be enough interest from anyone else.

I could have posed my question better, highlighting Cowell's reference to a 'different company' which was the object of my curiosity instead of leading the quotation with his reference to 'selling out'.
