Well, it depends.

If she wants us each to separately get 20 lashes, you are right.

But maybe she wants us to bend over side by side so that the lash can strike both of us simultaneously. (Ow - sounds painful!) In that case, it would be correct.

But it would also make her a pervert.

Which would Joan prefer -- to be known as a pervert or to be known as one who made a grammatic error?
