Here are some facts: (a) FDA approved? yes (b) reimbursement? yes, on a case by case basis. (c) results of the multicenter trial? not before November 97 (data to be submitted to the AHA meeting, in May 1997, for presentation in Novemeber 97). Going up to $8... no reason for that now (just my opinion), unless there is a NEW significant finding at the ACC meeting in 2 weeks (such as improvement of circulatin in legs, effectivemess in stokes, CHF, shock, ear problems... Otherwise, we will definitively not reach for this Spring... we need NEWS! not rumors. Now listen to that... (obtained from the salesforce from VASO). At Vasomedical they are planning to guaranty their treatment in some ways. They plan to reimburse the patient or hospital if a patient has to undergo PTCA or CABG within 6 months. They, at VASO, believe in their treatment. That should help their sales/leases tremendously. If I was a EECP provider, I would go for that! No cardiologist would back their PTCA with that kind of guaranty!... in my view, probably they should!... they make plenty of money as it is... Oh! but wait!... PTCA has a 20-40% failure rate at 6 months!... so that PTCA guaranty would not be feasible, would it?... I therefore believe that EECP is better than that... otherwise they would not back up their EECP treatment... may be VASO has allready a big hint at the multicenter trial results (although I doubt they have any results as these studies are done by the centers, not by VASO directly, and that it is a prospcetive, randomized study. However each center must have some idea, at this point in time. FHG |
