I suppose diplomats would construe doing nothing as 'tacit support',
but the US did nothing to help UK forces in the Falklands.

Actually US was most upset when British special forces landed on the mainland to recce for
airstrikes against Argentine air forces and Navy units. If Britain had been allowed to bomb the
Argentine air bases, perhaps they wouldn't have lost HMS Sheffield.

Undoubtedly a special relationship exists but the Brits know that it
not what ir is cracked up to be in the media.
